On Foot:

In this series Bottino’s work observes Spokane’s metropolitan area through the artistic practice of walking.  On Foot refers to the way she has come to know the city - step by step, with an openness to unexpected, fleeting moments. Dappled light on buildings, windows left glowing, and chairs waiting for someone to pause all hint at lives unfolding just beyond view.

Through meditative walks and visual documentation, Bottino grapples with the vastness of human experience. By often excluding figures from these vignettes, the paintings acknowledge the many unknown lives and stories unfolding in close proximity. In celebrating the quiet, stumbled-upon magic of the spaces people inhabit, the work aims to honor these unseen existences.
